5 Exposures is a site-specific installation at Bombon Projects in Barcelona, in which I explored the gap between the physical experience of an exhibition and the
images produced from it.
The work consisted in transforming the gallery space into a photographic set, using vinyl, paint, and carpet. The set reenacted images from five past exhibitions at the gallery from different artists through digital anamorphisms that distort each image from the camera's point of view, revealing the single privileged vantage point from which the photograph was originally taken — while everywhere else in the space, that same image appears as distortion, as trompe l'oeil.
The photographic set was, then, photographed by Roberto Ruiz, the art photographer who documented these exhibitions on the first place, resulting in five photographs, which were exhibited in the gallery’s showroom as part of the show.
The installation becomes a moving image piece which recquires the active movement of the visitors in seek of the photographer's original perspective.
